- It depends on the type of sound recordings you are planning. If it will
- be used for voice-over, then I recommend a cardioid unidirectional.
- If planning to use it in a documentary situation where the speaker will
- be on camera, then I recommend one of the mini-shotguns; they have a
- greater working distance than cardioids and can be held outside of frame.
- If the speaker will be on camera in a staged interview situation, then
- the lapel mike will work. If the one the dealer showed is limited only
- by a short cord and you like the mike otherwise, just by a cord extender.
- I own two lapel mikes for use with my two prosumer camcorders. They
- came from Radio Shack and cost about $20 @. They needed cord extensions.
