  11. Whereas VHS-C is just the same VHS tape in a smaller cartridge, 8mm is a
  12. completely different format and there's no way you could get the VHS 
  13. mechanism to read the 8mm tape. Patching in from your camcorder or buying
  14. an 8mm player is the way to go. I often edit onto VHS (despite loss in
  15. resolution) so I can play the tapes on other people's machines. It's too
  16. bad 8mm hasn't become more dominant in VCR's.
