- Sounds like exactly my situation; I had a Denon PMA720, thought
- about a Yamaha DSP E-1000 or 200, but ended up with an A-1000
- and a spare amp. I still can't part with the Denon. At the
- moment, I plan to wire other rooms for A/V through it. I am
- very pleased with the A1000, but it definitely sounds DIFFERENT
- to the PMA-720. I haven't decided whether it's better or not,
- yet. It's in a different room now, with different acoustics.

- The Yamaha boxes at least, and I would think it safe to say "in
- general" work off a preamp loop as preferred setup, with the
- option of a tape loop for integrated amps that don't have a
- preamp loop (like the PMA-720).
-
- If you have such a facility, it should work very well. The
- remote master volume on the Yamaha processors will control the
- master volume of the main amplifier by attenuating the return to
- the main amp from the loop. You just set the main amp
- to about 50%, and use the processor for the rest.
-
- I'd say go for it. Audition first, of course. Unless you know
- exactly what you're doing, get someone to help you set it up for
- the first time. You can make an unholy mess of the sound by
- playing with all those wonderful settings! :-)
-
- Start simple: just use the test signal to equalize the volume on
- each channel. Then, over time, experiment with room sizes,
- initial delays, liveness, etc. TAKE NOTES!
