- Hi,
-
- I'm about to take the plunge and buy a laserdisc player (as well as a
- projection tv etc, I have quite a few technical questions on that, but that'll
- come later). After reading the recent posting by William Cruce, I'm very
- tempted to buy the Pioneer Elite CLD-95 solely on the basis of that very nice
- review.
-
- (I have seen the 701 and the cheapest Elite player (CLD-52?), but I've been
- unable to find a place in central NJ that has both the 701 and the 95
- side-by-side to do a real A-B test.)
-
- I have a couple of questions about the CLD-95 that I hope those of you who
- have experience with the player will be able to answer:
-
- 1. The CLD-95 also plays CDs. How good is the CD player section?
- Does it compare to audio CD players, for example, the Theta players?
- Or should I forget it has a CD section, and budget for a real CD player
- instead?
-
- 2. Are the Elite players available through mail-order? Or are they only sold
- by high-end dealers who usually charge a lot closer to list price than to
- cost price. I have been quoted $1299 for the CLD-95 by a local dealer. Is
- this reasonable?
-
- Thanks very much,
-
- Sandiway
