  12. SVHS hasn't had too much success in the consumer market for time shifting
  13. and rentals, but has become the defacto standard for special event video
  14. production.  It is also widely used in industrial and institutional
  15. applications.  The Fox network uses SVHS cameras for news aquisition
  16. (JVC X1 SVHS-C to be exact).  It is being challenged by hi8 more and
  17. more because of the slowness of manufacturers like Panasonic in bringing
  18. out new camcorders.  I personally use both formats.

  20. Tomorrow, I am shooting a segment to appear on the Discovery channel
  21. - and using a 3-chip camcorder with SVHS!
