- SVHS hasn't had too much success in the consumer market for time shifting
- and rentals, but has become the defacto standard for special event video
- production. It is also widely used in industrial and institutional
- applications. The Fox network uses SVHS cameras for news aquisition
- (JVC X1 SVHS-C to be exact). It is being challenged by hi8 more and
- more because of the slowness of manufacturers like Panasonic in bringing
- out new camcorders. I personally use both formats.
-
- Tomorrow, I am shooting a segment to appear on the Discovery channel
- - and using a 3-chip camcorder with SVHS!
