- Sorry mark,
- I disagrees with you. There are a lot of info here that is not available
- through books or travle agents. I have benefitted greatly from this group
- over the last many trips I've taken. Sure I do my homework months before
- I go on my trip. I not only get the AAA guides, but also any other ones
- I can get my hands on, and travel video tapes from the local video
- stores. You bet I do a lot of homework before I go. But I still ask for
- opinions on the net and so far, everytime I've posted, I have been given
- a lot of inside info from the locals, or hints from others that have
- taken a similar trip and what they would do differently, or what they've
- discovered. And a number of times, I didn't agree with AAA's hotel
- ratings and thanks to other on the net, I chose a better place at a
- cheaper price. ie. Others don't agree either. I did check out the hotels
- once I get there to satisfy my curiosity that I haven't made a bad
- choice. For example, the hotel might be a nice enough hotel and AAA
- gives it 4 stars. But the neigbouthood is bad, and there is not enough
- parking with adjacent store customers using the same lot. Or the exit
- is on a one way street and you have to drive back to get to the
- sightseeing areas....etc. Things like this that only locals or someone
- else who've gone through this before can tell you. So I'd like to see
- this type of info exchange continue. And I think this is what makes this
- group so valuable.
