- Just wanted to add my experience. A few years back my family planned a trip to
- Korea... My children and I went to the local court house and filled out the
- needed paperwork, they then sent it to NYC for processing. Two weeks later
- it was in our mailbox..
-
- My wife on the other hand presented a special problem, she was a soon to be
- US citizen. We had purchased our tickets so we would have close to a month
- after the great event to get all the needed paperwork. Of course the obvious
- happened, the ceremony was rescheduled for just three days prior to flight
- time.
-
- We went to the court house right after she was sworn in and asked what
- could be done, they filled out the paperwork, put it into a sealed
- envalope, called someone at NYC.. told us to go to the postoffice, purchase
- two express mail envalopes, address one to the person they had talked to in
- care of the NYC office, the other to our home, then mail the paperwork and
- return envelope out. We got her passport in less than 48 hours.
-
- As one poster said, these people CAN be jerks... but then again.
-
- Try just talking to the clerks and see what can be done. One thing they told
- us was that the winter months are rather slow as far as passport requests go
- so they tend to get processed faster..
-
- best of luck.
