  31.      as a librarian, many times I was pleasently surprised by strange 
  32.      and authentic reasons why a person didn't know any  particular 
  33.      'best way' to get specific information.  For example, maybe they
  34.       were shut-in due to age/handicap/illness.  I had one person that
  35.       came to my office all broke-down and upset, because they re-
  36.       member an old (800) phone number for service/repair on their
  37.       television.  They were surprised to learn that not only is there
  38.       an 800 directory assistance, but also an 800 phone book avail-
  39.       able.

  42.      Some of the reasons may surprise even you!  For instance, do you
  43.      ever notice how many times a person in VNEWS may wish for a res-
  44.      pondant to contact him/her via landline.  Some reasons for this
  45.      given, are varied!  They may/not have their own personal account.
  46.      Or under such headings as Alt.Personals, I can't tell you how
  47.      many times I've seen a request from someone wanting to know how
  48.      to get a secret account.  And so on... I think I've expressed
  49.      the point quite well.  Patience is not only a virtue, it's just
  50.      a simple act of kindness.  I think YOUR talents here (agitation)
  51.      might well be better directed towards those who flame folks
  52.      just because they are under worked and over paid on their jobs.

  54.      I guess with MY terminal, I can just hit the return and make a
  55.      particular post "DISOLVE INTO THE TWILIGHT!"  If YOUR terminal
  56.      doesn't have THIS feature, you may wish to NOT subscribe to a
  57.      particular group that gets you so profoundly annoyed.  The al-
  58.      ternative is to switch to decaf!
