  13. I'll be attending a training course in Alameda (at Wind River Systems)
  14. sometime in February and I figured that many readers of this newsgroup
  15. might actually live in that area, and might have some information that
  16. could make my visit more enjoyable.

  18. Wind River Systems suggested a few hotels in the area including:
  19. The Waterfront Plaza Hotel
  20. 10 Washington Street
  21. Oakland
  22.  
  23. Marina Village Inn
  24. Pacific Marina
  25. Alameda
  26.  
  27. Garratt Mansion
  28. 900 Union Street
  29. Alameda
  30.  
  31. and
  32. Executive Inn
  33. 1755 Embarcadero Drive
  34. Oakland

  36. The classes are a Monday through Friday type deal and I'll probably be
  37. arriving and leaving on surrounding Sundays.
  38. I've been to S.F. before, only for a long weekend, not long enough, and
  39. never made it to Oakland. Had to do the touristy stuff then: Wharf,
  40. GG Bridge, China Town, Muir Woods, Sausalito, Lombard St, I know
  41. I missed alot. Any comments/suggestions on the above hotels and or what
  42. I should try to catch/see/taste in the area in my solo time away from
  43. the class would be appreciated.

  45. My interests are varied so info on anything from museums to
  46. bars will be welcome.  Preferably places where one can go alone
  47. without feeling terribly uncomfortable.

  49. Since this probably doesn't have much appeal as a general destination
  50. perhaps you could respond to me via e-mail rather than through a
  51. posting if you've got some input concerning beautiful Alameda.
