- For international (outside the US) I prefer Michelin--very good in-depth
- info and maps. In planning a trip to England in '93, I found the
- Frommer's guide most useful. I use AAA guidebooks for domestic travel.
-
- > Do you find the info provided up to date?
- My Frommer's edition is current. I bought a AA (British) guide at my
- AAA club, but it is 5 years out of date. My Michelin guide is a year old,
- but I believe most of the info is still valid.
-
- > Are the maps easy to read?
- I wouldn't use Frommer's for navigation. The AAA map is marginal. My
- AA London map has detail, but no street index. When I arrive in London,
- I'll buy a regional map for touring. Michelin maps of towns and
- historic area are great, not for driving but for walking & locating
- places of interest.
-
- > How do you find the suggested Accommodation, Restaurants?
- Frommer's tries to find the best or most interesting hotels and
- restaurants within different price ranges. I've used it almost
- exclusively for accommodations. I only have the green Michelin
- guide (touring), not the red guide (accommodations), though I'm sure
- the latter contains an exhaustive list.
-
- > And the suggested itenery? Day tours etc.
- Both Frommer's and Michelin have suggested tours.
-
- > Too much details?
- One can never have too many details!
