Recently, I wrote that I've witnessed two misfires. "One an FXC, the other
a Cypres". This is not true, I meant to say Sentinel. Sorry for the typo.
I also said that Mr. Piras no doubt had his reasons for having it turned off
at the time, whatever that reason may have been. However It was not I who stated said he had a fear of a misfire while floating. My point was, and is that AAD's havent convinced me yet that they are reliable enough to use with multiple jumpers in the air, except students, and thier jumpmasters--
No doubt they will (and possibly have-Cypress?) evolve to become reliable,
affordable. I'm just not convinced yet. Also, I struggle with the thought
of our sport becoming sterilized with gadgets that remove the risks, which
makes Skydiving exciting, & allowing people who dont trust thier abilities
and equipment into the sport, making it more like a Carnival Ride. Remove
the risks, and you remove the excitement, as well as a closeness, & bonding
of a breed of people who sometimes share the edge with each other.
