- I didn't save the address of the person inquiring about Wolf Creek,
- and I figured there may be a few other people interested.
-
- There are motels east of WC in South Fork. The closest you can get
- is a lodge-type place just east of the gates which are used to close
- the pass, just west of that enormous RV place Fun Valley. (Actually
- west of South Fork.) This is about 10 miles from the ski area.
-
- There are motels west of WC in Pagosa Springs. The closest you
- can get is a nice-looking lodge and cabins place right near the
- "Discount Tire Chains!" place, a few miles before Treasure Falls.
- (Quite a distance east of Pagosa Springs.) Again, about 10 miles from
- the ski area (maybe more).
-
- We drove through on Monday and it was massively dumping, with 2 feet
- expected. Don't expect to be able to drive to Wolf Creek unless you
- have good snow tires or chains. WC is a small area with slow lifts,
- long lines, not much terrain, and fabulous snow. If you're looking
- for a good week-long ski vacation, probably the best thing to do is
- to fly to Durango, ski Purgatory most of the time, and then rent a
- car and go to Wolf Creek for 1 or 2 days.
