  18. I don't quite see the point of having ratty plastic sheet on top of 
  19. one's own skis : like glueing some ratty plastic wrap on a new
  20. car or leaving plastic bags on new furniture, or wrapping new shoes in
  21. protective vinyl galoshes, or wearing new suit with dry-cleaning bag 
  22. on top to preserve it from dust. Of course, eventually you can pass
  23. all these objects to your children  in pristine condition, they'll
  24. appreciate it ...
