- One way to control your speed on the steeps without placing them perpendicular
- to the fall-line is to do a series of quick turns. The number of turns you do
- will vary depending on steepness, terrain, etc... but this is something you
- will learn with experience.
-
- One hint I found helpful in maintaining my rhythm is to watch someone else
- coming down a steep slope for an example. You will see a good skier
- taking a steep by making some short radius(what I call slalom turns.) turns
- then throw in 2-3 really quick turns that are basically setting the downhill
- ski then unweighting and making the other ski the downhill ski... you get the
- idea.
-
- Try this on a slope that is not too steep and you will see that you lose
- speed. I also recommend that anything you a going to try should first be
- done on a gradual slope because if you cannot do it there then you won't do
- it correctly on more challenging terrain.(I now step down from the podium.)
-
- Enjoy the skiing!
