- Went up to Vail on Saturday 12/19. They had good conditions with 5 inch.
- new snow. I was surprised at how few people were there. We got to the
- Lionshead Gondola at 8:25 and no one was there. We didn't even think it was
- open because of no line. Walked right in and got on. We didn't come out of
- the back bowls all day. Getting ready for a trip up to British Columbia
- to Mike Wiegele Helicopter skiing so stayed in the trees most of the time.
- Did see a lot of snowboards as we rode up the lift. They were having a great
- time and because the snow was a little wind blown and crusty I think they
- were having a easer time than we were with skis. I enjoy skiing in the trees
- more than any other types of skiing but have never seen a snowboarder
- in the trees. I would find it hard to believe that they could follow me in
- the trees do to the radius of their turns. Do snowboarder's do the trees,
- just curious, do not mean to put any one down. I thought the guys/gals on
- the boards really looked graceful coming down the open bowls, easily the
- best people I've ever seen on boards. Never did wait more than two or three
- chairs for any lift all day it was great. Very Cold two degrees in the
- morning up to about 18 during the day.
