- Ah, yes... another installment from George's Freudian Theory of Figure
- Skating. Sometimes a skate guard is just a skate guard, George.

- You know, George, I almost felt bad after flaming you the first time
- around; however, your most recent "installment" has removed all doubts from
- my mind concerning the appropriateness of my earlier reaction. Here we go
- again...
-
- >If this were true, then why do ice skaters involved in paired dance

-
- Similar Pairs/Shadow Dance involve two people of the same gender.
- This is a practical way of dealing with the fact that the vast
- majority of figure skaters are female.
-
- >Also, I suspect that spending some quality time in the bedroom is a
- >necessary prerequisite for paired skaters to dance well together. It
- >ensures both their bodies and personalities are in synch, since their
- >sport involves touching each other all day.
-
- This is the most insulting, demeaning, and degrading remark I have yet to
- hear in this thread, and merely responding to it makes me feel soiled.
- Talented, dedicated skaters have no need of illicit affairs to galvanize
- their artistic unison. Many ex-Soviet pair and dance teams are married; so
- what. Correlation does not imply causation, nor indicate which is the
- cause and which is the effect.
-
- >Why would a man who is gay choose a sport that required him to skate with
- >an attractive woman several hours per day? In other words, I suspect there
- >are fewer gays in paired dance competition than in other forms of ice figure
- >skating.
-
- This is about as ridiculous and absurd as everything else you've said!
- Most people, in the course of pursuing their vocations and avocations,
- associate very closely on a daily basis with people in whom they have no
- sexual interest, because sexuality is utterly irrelevant to that activity.
- Sorry to disappoint you, but ice dancing and pair skating, like the vast
- majority of human activities, are not inherently sexual.
-
- Thanks for the free entertainment. :-) Why don't we let this thoroughly
- inane thread die a quiet death now?!
