- Experienced diver = number of years you've been diving + How often you
- dive + Environment you dive in. Someone that dove caves and wrecks
- at 200+ feet 20 years ago is not and experienced diver present tense.
- You have to keep your skills current. I dove with a friend that was and
- instructor at a local college 20 years ago. He had logged over 500+ dives at
- the time. We went diving a few months ago an this guy made me very nervous.
- He did not have the basic skills needed to even pass basic certification.
- I have been diving 2 years with 80 logged dives an I was much more experienced
- both in knowledge and basic skills. I also dove with someone that had the
- same number of dives that I did but in warm water only. We did not complete
- the first dive. He could not handle the 1/4 inch wet suit and aborted the dive.
- Experience is a relative term.
