- Your cat is definately in heat, and she is most certainly
- frustrated and UNHAPPY! You may think there is no immediate
- problem, but she certainly does. She will try anything to escape
- and if she does not succeed, she will become more and more
- UPSET. Carmen, my siamese, used to pee on my bed during her
- cycle to let me know how pissed she was at me for not letting
- her mate. As soon as I had her spayed, the behavior quit. She
- peed in the same spot -- right near MY pillow -- every cycle.
-
- Cats are not humans, and we tend too much to think they feel
- about their reproductive abilities the way we do. They don't
- spend years caring for children -- most could care less what
- happens to their kittens after about 8 weeks. Please don't
- associate having a cat neutered or spayed with having a human
- sterilized. It's just not the same. The cat will be much happier!
- AND HEALTHIER!!! They won't be prone to reproductive organ cancers,
- they will get into fewer fights, they will be psychologically
- happier!! There are far too many kittens in shelters to even
- think about breeding a cat -- unless you have a purebred and
- want to bread for showing, etc. And keeping your unfixed
- cat locked up is just going to make her very very very
- frustrated and PISSED at you!
-
- You would never know my two cats are fixed unless you spent
- several weeks with them and noticed they don't come into heat.
- They are active, slim (unlike their human caretaker), and
- perfectly happy. Carmen hasn't peed on my bed for over 3 years.
- Let me tell you, there's nothing like laying down at night to
- go to sleep and finding yourself in a puddle of cat pee!
-
- As Bob Barker says, "please help control the pet population!
- have your cat spayed or neutered." Trust me on this, your cat
- will be MUCH MUCH MUCH MUCH happier!!!! If you want to always
- have a kitten around, or have one once in a while, get new
- kittens from the shelter, don't make your own!
