  25. There are good reasons and bad reasons for doing just about anything.
  26. What you have to realize is that for declawing, you better have a
  27. really great reaon.  There is a chance the cat will be no worse for
  28. the procedure.  There is also the risk that it will be severely
  29. physically and emotionally damaged.  I think you have a good reason,
  30. the well-being of other cats in your household.  Another good reason
  31. to declaw a cat would be because it has incurable seizures and claws
  32. itself.  In general, doing it for the cat or other defenseless
  33. animals, when all alternatives have been exhausted, is a good reason.
  34. Doing it for yourself or other powerful animals as the first attempted
  35. solution is a bad reason.
