- Cats should never, never be declawed. It is not just a matter of self
- defense. The claws are necessary for cats to properly scratch, preen
- and clean themselves. Desmond Morris, one of the top experts in animal
- behavior, says that declawing is a horrible mutilation for a cat. People
- considering declawing should read up on it first. It is a more drastic
- step than you might think.
