  21.     Roxy is now about nine years old.  She was decidedly _not_ thrilled
  22.     when Emrys and Taliesin came along about two years ago (their mother
  23.     was a stray who hung out around the apartment complex I was then
  24.     living in).  It wasn't so bad when they were 4 week old kittens (the
  25.     brats living around me wouldn't leave the kittens alone - the mother
  26.     was so skittish, she kept moving them), but when they got to be 12 and
  27.     18 pound monsters, her little 6 pound body was constantly
  28.     reverberating with some horrific growls.

  30.     After a year-and-a-half, however, she accepted the inevitability of
  31.     their presence.  But when I moved in with my girlfriend (and her two
  32.     cats, _and_ her two kids) last year, Roxy got really upset.  Started
  33.     leaving little puddles for us, and all that.

  35.     I got some valium for her.  Basically all that it accomplished was
  36.     that when approached (by either my two boys, or by Picasso or Chloe),
  37.     she'd just growl a little quieter.  It really didn't help all that
  38.     much.  I'd suggest that Ruth try some other methods for calming her
  39.     cats.
