- ..[ about cats needing different types of food]
-
- Pita is a diabetic and FUS-prone cat who gets either w/d to control his
- diabetes or s/d when he gets a FUS incident. (As of his most recent
- incident the vet is recommending s/d until he's cleared up, then a regimen
- of 3 weeks w/d, 1 week s/d to try to keep the problems under control.)
-
- Squiffel is a 6-month old who is getting Science Diet feline growth food.
- The vet's instructions are that Pita may not under any circumstances get
- Squiffel's food, but it's ok if Squiffel gets some of Pita's. So...
- Squiffel gets fed in the bathroom, with the door closed. (It's how she's
- been fed ever since she found my home so she thinks it's perfectly normal.)
- What she doesn't eat in about 15 minutes or so gets put away until the
- next time. Pita's food gets left out for open feeding. (He needs to
- have food available all the time in case he goes hypoglycemic as a reaction
- to insulin.)
-
- Incidentally, my thanks to the wonderful people at the emergency vet
- clinic who treated Pita's recent urinary tract blockage on Christmas
- Eve.
