- OK, I'll admit to playing `Incredible Flying Cat' by carefully tossing the
- cat across the room onto a water bed (4 inches of padding over the matress
- at *least*... no *unintentional* wet dreams for me, thanks. :-)) Most of
- them would come back for another toss as soon as they figured out that they
- didn't get hurt. The one's that don't come back don't get to play. :-)
-
- The other thing I've done (oh, horror of horrors !) is to pick them up and
- hold them when they're not in the mood for being held. Nothing shatters a
- cat's dignity quite like enduring the torture of being stroked when they're
- not looking for it. Still, they need to be shown who's boss once in a while.
-
- (actually, *I* need to assure myself of who is running the show !) :-)
-
- It was this trick that led to the infamous `Cat Rap' sessions at my house.
- I don't know if you realize it or not, but cats *can't* growl if their
- noses are plugged. Since most of my cats would growl to beat the band if
- subjected to unwanted love (never a claw or tooth... just loud bitching), I
- found that I could do Rap beats by intermittently blocking their nostrils
- momentarily with the tips of my fingers. Vanilla Ice has got nuthin' on
- `Fuzzy Slush' (Brinn's Rap nickname) :-)
-
- Is this *torture* ?!?! Maybe, but they keep coming back for attention and
- cats have a *lot* more free will re: loving their owners than dogs seem to.

- That's why they will often `tease' you by coming up as if to get petted,
- and then avoid your hand like the plague and run when you try to pick them
- up. Noah did this all the time and often I chased and cornered him when he
- did it. When I finally did catch him and pick him up, the game was over, *I*
- had won (from *his* perspective ... I was usually close to heart-attack
- exhaustion by the time I out-smarted him), and when released (purring madly),
- he almost always rubbed on me and begged for attention from which he *didn't*
- shy away.
-
- If *that* ain't jerkin' your chain, I don't know what is !
-
- A belated Merry X-Mas to all my pals here on r.p.c, by the way. I would
- have sent it sooner, but for some reason it was hard to get into the
- Christmas spirit this year.
-
- Oh, and happy New Year before I blow that one as well. :-)
