- Not a good way to avoid a flame war. I've heard this argument before
- from people who believe cats and dogs belong outside and not in human
- houses. These are the same kind of people who in generations past said
- "If man were meant to fly, God would have given him wings" or "If God
- meant for women to wear pants, he would have made them men", etc...
- What pure rot! People used to be outdoor creatures too, why aren't we
- still living in caves?

- My two cats are indoor only cats and are passive loving animals. They
- do not have psycological problems (unless you consider the weird attributes
- of the siamese to be psycological). My parents outdoor cat, who only comes
- inside when the temperature isn't fit for beasts, is aggressive. Go figure?
- Also, my siamese indoor only cat will eat nothing but dry cat food -- no
- fresh meat of any kind will pass her jaws. Humans are carnivores too, how
- come we're not all out there hunting for our dinner? Your cats-are-
- carnivores-so-they-need-to-hunt theory is garbage.

- Yes, my cats like being outside and escape every chance they can. But
- if they understood the perils of contageous diseases such as feline
- leukemia, etc., and the wonderful toys we've made for ourselves (called
- cars), I don't think they'd mind not going out very often. Besides,
- when one does escape and I can't find her, she always returns a few
- hours later. Now why does she come back if its so much better for her
- outside?
-
- You can treat your cat however you want to. But I remember too many
- painful episodes as a child of losing my favorite pet to a car
- or some horrible outdoor-cat disease. Agnes and Carmen will not end
- their lives as roadkill.
