  14. "I have three cats: two females who love each other, and "hate"
  15. the third cat-- a male.  The two females were raised as kittens
  16. and the male came a year later, as a kitten.  They are now 8-9 years
  17. old.  All cats were neutered at usual time... 6 months.

  19. From the beginning, one of the females appeared to have
  20. difficulty distinguishing the litter box from squares of a quilt
  21. and small love seats.  With three cats, it became difficult to tell
  22. who was urinating where...  I work long hours and the cats have little
  23. supervision.  When I moved to a condominium without a yard the male
  24. cat became out of control, urinating in guests' purses, spraying
  25. my clothes... any clothes that were not hung up, and my bed...
  26. I was afraid to have people visit and sit down, because of unexpected
  27. puddles of urine.  Many times I have thrown myself bone-tired into
  28. bed and felt uneasily for damp bed clothes.

  30. I took all three cats to the vet.  He found a urinary tract infection
  31. in the male cat but felt that beyond an irritable bladder, there was a
  32. problem "between the ears".  He recommended confining my cats to a
  33. small area: the little bedroom, kitchen area and pantry, for at least
  34. two months.  He said that I would "lose them as pets" for that time, but
  35. this might correct the problem.

  37. I wasn't able to do this, and have now been compared to a "battered
  38. wife" ;-)  (Joyce says "Ruth is a cat sucker!")

  40. I'm unable to entertain at home.  I've spent a lot of money on
  41. things like air filters, and new furniture, but I have no joy in
  42. buying bed clothes."
