- "E> However, the info only applies in Sweden, Findland, and to some extent
- "E> in Norway, Denmark and northern Germany. Further, it is all in Swedish
- Actually, from what I've read, there is *no* universal medieval book-
- of-days. Every area had its own little subset of saints, some too
- local to be known elsewhere, etc. I got that from reading about the
- Books of Hours, the fancy illuminated books with prayers for every hour, although that's probably every *canonical* hour, and usually including
- a list of the local feast days and various saint's days that were
- observed. Apparently you get a rough idea of time period and location
- of the owner based upon the various prayers and the calendar of saint's
- days....

- "E> Tourney mandatory, is a bad idea. Nevertheless, I believe that
- "E> we need some provisions for the conduct of theme events, stating
- "E> clearly that they are allowed -- especially if "standard SCA
- "E> reality" shall be temporarily suspended. Oh, details...
- This really shouldn't be a problem. One Ansteorran theme event, which
- has been discontinued because it got to be *too* popular, announced a
- specific time (1180 <??> Silesia), and gave a specific time frame for
- the "scope" of the event, 1100-1200. People were encouraged to send
- in their reservations early, because the organizers sent out a booklet
- and a small newsletter which featured some articles about the time
- period so that the library-challenged or time-constrained could know
- what was going on and what was expected. The tourney was a period
- style for the time (I assume -- the originator Knew His Stuff, IMHO),
- and was judged in a period style. It was repeated annually, and has
- spawned various other "theme" events, which have had varying degrees of
- success.
- So, the idea is already being used, without having to twist Corpora
- even slightly. Go for it now!
