- Since I hail from Ansteorra, I feel that the length-of-
- residence clause protects us just as well as the invitation, with less
- potential for politics. As an additional "safe-guard", there is a
- ceremony where all non-belted fighters must be "spoken for" by a belt
- (or is that just by a peer....nope, think it's got to be a belt). To
- the best of my knowledge, this accolade has been refused to none who
- requested it (although there *have* been some long silences before
- someone spoke up.....)
- OTOH, Ansteorra has pretty smallish crown tourneys. We tend to
- impress folks with the seriousness of entering, and most don't. We
- have not yet had the problem of needing to reduce the tourney size.
