- Good Gentles!
-
- There were large numbers of Euorpeans living in East Asia in the 16th
- century. Further, there were several Japanese expeditions to the pope
- and other Western precincts before Japan was closed in the early 17th
- century. There were from the 7th century onward rather frequent
- journeys by Japanese scholars to India. Now does that make Japanese
- common in the courts of the Plantagenet kings of England? No it does
- not. But, neither were there a lot of Turks, Arabs, Austrians or
- Italians wandering around England either.
