- One oppressively hot summer Glenn Gould was in New York for either a recording
- session or a perdormance, I forget which, and during a break in the rehearsal,
- he went outside in the 90+ deg. F. weather, wearing his overcoat, heavy scarf
- and gloves. He found a little park and sat down on a bench. A few minutes
- later a policeman came along and mistaking him for a vagrant, asked him if he
- had a job. Gould replied, "Yes, I'm a musician." The policeman said, "That
- explains it", and walked off....
