  23. Most combat fliers I talked to are against it unless someone finds a way 
  24. to make a non-breakable, disposable muffler that doesn't cost very much. 
  25. Also, a way has to be found to attach it to existing engines without much
  26. modification and weight.

  28. The big difference between Combat and other forms of model aviation is 
  29. that the planes are expected to hit each other and Terra Firma rather
  30. regularly. The good thing is our motors (the expensive part of the air-
  31. plane) are pretty good at surviving mishaps such as these (though not 
  32. 100% of the time!). Most feel that the addition of a muffler will not 
  33. only cause weight problems (Fast Combat planes weigh about 18-21 oz, so 
  34. a 3 oz muffler is quite an addition) but will be costly in a crash. 
  35. Aside from losing the muffler the engine it is attached to might break.
