One of the most important things for me, after having to take about three months off(also due to finances), was to ease into a good stretching program for the legs. I found out the hard way that most kicks don't work very well until you've regained some of the flexibility lost over the months of inactivity. Something else that helped give me some aerobic work plus helped to bring back some kind of coordination was shadow-sparring - find an empty room and start putting together combinations (upper and low
er body). Start slow and work your way up, but try not to do less than three techniques at a time... Hope this helps.
