- Sorry, my instructions were poor. As you noticed from the subject
- we are just seeking a proper way to submit plans. There are things
- of concern: mail/news systems does not (yet) support graphic
- file formats, the other is space.
-
- The tools you need, are available on UNIX environment. some of
- them in PC/DOS environment, too. Step by step:
-
- 1. uudecode is used to convert the character representation
- of a binary file to a binary file. It's like converting
- a hex dump back. (uudecode is available for DOS).
-
- 2. uncompress will unpack the binary file to it's original
- extent. compression was done to save space and bandwidth.
- I don't have uncompress for DOS, I don't know if it exist.
- The problem is that *.zip *.lzh *.zoo etc.. are not common
- in UNIX world.
-
- 3. tar is an archiver from UNIX world (available for DOS,too).
- it will collect many files to one "archive".
-
- 4. In this stage there should be two postscript files. In DOS
- environment you need Ghostscript to view and print,
- unless you have a postscript printer to do it.
- Ghostscript will support some dot matrix printers and
- it's free. Look for V2.52 or newer.
-
- Steps 1,2 and 3 can be avoided by POSTing POSTscript,
- it just takes some more space. Posting of GIF-files
- needs at least the uuencoding, compression is useless,
- because GIF's are pretty compact already. But, reasonable
- sized GIF-files would reproduce only a fax-quality printouts,
- that's why I suggest postscipt, whenever it is available.
-
- John, I will mail the two postscript files to you, get the
- Ghostscript somewhere, it's very useful.
