- The 257 Roberts is arguably one of the finest mid-caliber centerfires ever
- designed. It has won high praise from hunters in accuracy and stopping
- power on an assortment of medium game (such as deer, antelop, black bear ect.)
-
- The 257 Roberts is more along the lines of the 270 as far as ballistics are
- concerned, though slightly inferior. If I would hazard a guess I would
- say that your savage 30-30 is a 99 lever action and the Ruger is a Bolt action.
- The Ruger may not be as fast handleing as the Savage, but I've always been a
- big fan of single shot kills. I'm sure even in Vermont there are other
- hunters in the woods and "Bush-wacking" a suspected or fleeing deer is
- no longer acceptable hunting methods.
-
- Enjoy your 257 Roberts and be sure that its more than enough gun for your game.
