- Sorry, but I find this confusing and cannot really understand the gist.

- ##This seems like a severe case of anal-retentiveness to me.
- ##"What? You refuse to work on my Springfield? Fine. I'll spend my
- ##money somewhere else."
- ##I personally would not want such a gunsmith to work on my guns.
- #
- #Not even Wilson's, Ed Brown, Woods, Bear (7/8" grp 50yds).
-
- Who or what is Wilson's, Ed Brown, Woods, Bear?
-
- ##I demand an objective attitude from a smith. I can see it now:
- #
- #If he's objective then he probably is working on Norincos and Auto-
- #Ordnance. Not a good <attitude>.
-
- I take it that this means Norincos and Auto-Ordinace are junk?
- (Never seen any.) If so, I can't see how an objective attitude would
- make someone want to work on junk guns. The point I was trying to make
- is that both Springfield and Colt make very nice 45's. Any gunsmith
- who disagrees is either keeping something secret from the rest of the
- world or just has a grudge.
-
- ##"If this were a Colt, I'd spend more time on it. Heck, it's a
- ##<brand-x>, so let's just get it over with and get is out of the shop."
-
- Maybe I should not have been so open as "<brand-x>". Replace with
- "Springfield". I was trying not to sound too much like a Springfield fan.
- I like Colts, too.
-
- #Wrong, accuracy/reliability work costs the same between Colts and
- #<brand-x> but for a gunsmith time is money. Can you blame them for
- #not wanting to waste time on <brand-x> to get the guaranted sub 2"
- #group. Remember that the pistols that win matches are a billboard
- #advertisement with the gunsmith's name on the slide. Woods goes as
- #far as interviewing his clientele!
-
- Did I imply I wanted a guaranteed sub 2" group? I don't think so.
- Is a sub 2" group something that is commonly guaranteed by smiths?
- Is there a flat fee for a sub 2" group? I think this would be silly.
- If I were a 'smith and you wanted me to guarantee you a 2" group out
- of a cheap, sloppy gun, I'd make the difference clear or refuse to
- do THE JOB, but not refuse to work on the gun. It would definitely
- cost more than the same job on a higher quality gun. I have never
- seen a smith's name on a slide. Sorry.
-
- ##hold their value very well. I now own two Colts.
- #
- ##That's precisely why I bought a used Springfield.
- ##Just as good as a Colt (or better) for less money.
- ##Plus, it has such a BEAUTIFUL deep deep blue finish.
- #
- #You probably own a Rossi and Tauras also, (no flames from Rossi or
- #Tauras owners). Or maybe plan on using Aguila ammunition at Camp Perry
- #it costs less money too.
-
- Nope. Don't like Rossi guns - don't like the fit or finish. Had a Taurus
- PT-99(?) and hated it. I have a S&W 686, 2 S&W 640's (My wife can shoot
- this from within her purse if necessary and no hammer to snag while pulling
- it out), and will soon either buy an HK-P7M8 or some (as yet undecided)
- type of SIG. What's Aguila ammunition? Cheap junk? I load my own.
-
- ##To each his own.
- #
- #Exactly, I'm glad there are guy's out there that are willing to give
- #up NRA points so easy.
-
- Don't have a clue what this means. Elaborate?
- (Competition lingo?)
-
- -Thanx
