- Kelly, I don't know anything about fruit worms (Texan, or otherwise), but I
- wonder if the aphids you saw might have been white flies. I had white flies on
- my tomato plants, which I originally thought were aphids. I sprayed them with
- a solution of Ivory liquid and water (1:10, I think), and left it on for about
- 1/2 an hour. Then I sprayed the plants VERY thoroughly with plain water
- (otherwise, the sun will wilt the leaves if they have any residue from the
- Ivory solution). Also, the plain water spray sort of BLASTS the bugs off the
- plants.
-
- I did this early in the season (when there were only a few yellow tomato
- flowers), and then about two weeks later when I saw the critters again. I
- never saw them after that, and never got any insect damage.
-
- You can find this method in a lot of organic gardening books, in case you want
- to be sure of the ratio of the solution. Also there might be something in the
- books on how to get rid of the fruit worms.
-
- Good luck!
