  11. A thought: You might just mound up the soil, as in the French-intensive
  12. and Chinese techniques. The mound can be about 4-5 feet wide. You get the
  13. benefits of raised beds without the cost of materials. Actually, the
  14. earthen beds may be better, since critters like snails and slugs may hide
  15. in the space between your material and the bed.
