- So far I have beaten all the scouts I have fought against,
- albeit with varying margins. Also the scouts I have fought have not
- been the best in the biz, nor the least lagged.
-
- Still, I'm using a sun mouse from hell and I am hardly the
- quintiscential (god I know I spelled that wrong) DD player. My opponents
- thus far have been from excellent to average, but I was not able to come
- to any obvious conclusion. I should have my normal machine
- by Wednesday, so after that if you guys can find a scout who can beat
- me more often than not I'd probably be convinced.
-
- And words are meaningless, but my general impression has been that
- my more powerfull torps and greater damage capacity more than make up for
- the accelerated torps of the scout. And while most scouts can indeed dodge
- my torps from about medium range, I have found that the range in which they
- can do significant (by significant I mean I won't regenerate it back in the
- process of battle) damage is close enough for me to land about a 15 point
- phaser and a torp. If they are outside this range they really can't hurt
- me - - though maybe it just takes someone who is good enough to ride the
- razor's edge of "effective torp range", hard for me to say. But even if
- they did, it would take them forever to kill me that way...

- Well, I'm still amazed everyone thinks the scout is a better
- dogfighter. Surely someone out there can prove it to me? (Warsong
- you whimp ;-P )
-
- And as a side note, I've used the DD in almost all the INL games
- for planet scumming. I use it because I can get a kill in a DD even if
- I can't find one to scum, and still be able to defend against oggs and
- basically remain with my escort. Also, I can take more damage which
- is probably offset by the scouts better maneuverability. However, even
- I know to use the scout when your waiting for armies to pop on your
- planets, as their advantage there is glaringly obvious.
-
- Gosh, I sure blow a lot of hot air. Here I am trying to have a
- real life and I ran around last night begging folks to dogfight me in
- a scout. <----- LOSER ALERT
