- In the UK the rules regarding drugs are more strict. I recall an incident
- a couple of years ago when a horse was disqualified after failing a drug
- test which proved positive for (I think) caffeine. It turned out that the
- horse had been given half a Mars bar (=Hershy (sp?) bar) by a stable lad
- before the race!

- I personally believe it is not in horses' best interests to race with
- either Bute or Lasix - if the horse requires pain-killers because of minor
- lameness then it shouldn't be raced at all! Of course, the welfare of
- horses is not of prime importance in racing.
