  13. Presenting --  McDonald's Uppper Deck All-Star Collector Series

  15. The Hype:  "The McDonald's Upper Deck All-Star Collector Series consists
  16. of a limited edition set of 27 NHL All-Star Player Cards, plus an exclusive
  17. Hologram Card subset featuring 6 NHL post-season 1st team All-Stars.
  18. We've even included a checlist card.  Look for these exciting Hologram Cards
  19. randomly inserted in a limited number of our packs.  Collect all 33
  20. McDonald's Upper Deck Limited Edition Cards."

  22. The Cards:  The regular cards are a considerable improvement over last years.
  23. The player's pictures seem crisper, the player selection is considerably
  24. better, and the card design is improved.  Last year, the back of the card
  25. had a "compressed" photo of the player that filled roughly half of the back
  26. of the card.  This year, the photo is stretched length wise across the
  27. back of the card and the width was reduced.  A write up in both French and
  28. English is included.  The write-ups also seemed to be much improved over
  29. last year, providing more pertinent information about the player.  The
  30. holograms are not "stickers" anymore, rather cards.  The holograms are
  31. nicely designed with the player in action in the inset, and the player's
  32. face enlarged in the back ground that provides a good effect.  As was
  33. mentioned up top, the holograms are randomly inserted instead of one
  34. per pack as was done last year.  Regular Cards are number McD - XX while
  35. holograms are numbered McH - 0X
  36.  
  37. Collation:  Typical Upper Deck collation.  Terrible.  In four packs I
  38. received back to back doubles of the same card.  In one pack I got:
  39. Sakic, Lemieux, Lemieux, and Sakic.  I'm not complaining :-) but it
  40. makes it harder to complete a set.  I opened 15 packs and I didn't
  41. receive any cards of Kirk Muller, Owen Nolan, Mike Richter, and
  42. Scott Stevens.  I did receive two holograms of Patrick Roy and Ray
  43. Bourque.  Here's how it all broke down for the 15 packs I purchased:

  59. Recchi and
  60. Pat LaFontaine.  Mark Messier, Kevin Stevens and Brian Leetch were featured
  61. in the hologram cards but not in the regular cards.  Notable players in
  62. the set include Fedorov, Roenick, Jagr, Lemieux, Mogilny, and Nolan.
  63. Overall, a pretty good set.  If collect hockey cards, this is a must-have
  64. set, especially those hologram cards.
