I'm heading up to the White Mountains of NH over the Xmas week. Anyone have some firsthand reports on the ice climbing conditions at the following areas:
Crawford Notch - Willey, Frankenstien, Avalon, Elephant Head Gully
Huntington Ravine -
I was at Frankenstein on Sat. The ground was bare; climbs were thin.
Sun I spent at Tuckerman's, which is in great shape and well worth
visiting. Climb's in Huntington's are supposedly pretty thin (I
didn't check) with hellish approaches. One fellow claimed Pinnacle was
fine. You could certainly try Pinnacle Buttress (a rock climb).
