- The original post specifically mentioned the reddish crown patch. Such
- a bird could not be a Hutton's Vireo, as Hutton's has no such colored
- crown. Also, the fine size distinctions bandied about are highly
- unreliable when dealing with such small, relatively active birds as
- Kinglets and Vireos. I agree with the original poster that it was
- a Ruby Crowned Kinglet.

- Incidently, I also made my first Ruby Crowned Kinglet in my backyard
- last April. He was very active, the light was bad, and I had the devil
- of a time glassing him, but for a couple of seconds he sat still and
- raised his scarlet patch. It took my breath away! The patch glowed like
- a road flare!
