  24. Dear Dave, My name is Mark Shannon and I reside in Toronto Ontario. I 
  25. downloaded a file, which you created, of a Madonna sample played in 
  26. reverse to reveal a satanic message. There's no doubt that it appears to 
  27. say what you claim it does. My interest in this type of thing goes back to 
  28. the days of the Beatles, with their messages about Paul being dead, and 
  29. later to Led Zeppelin, with the supposed satanic message in Stairway To 
  30. Heaven. I reversed the later myself to see if it was true, and sure enough 
  31. the word "satan" shows up around the lyrics 'It's just a spring clean for 
  32. the may queen". Robert Plant said the the lyrics to that tune were written 
  33. very fast, automatic writing style, as if he were in a trance. Could it 
  34. have been satan that told him what to say, knowing that his forward vocals 
  35. would carry a hidden praise in reverse?....oooh scary!!
  36. The possiblity that  artists and producers actually spend time in the 
  37. studio created masked messages is remote, in my opinion. Why? Because I 
  38. make a living as a musician, and all my friends are musicians and yet I 
  39. have never even heard a rumour of someone writing a line of lyrics that 
  40. would create a hidden message in reverse. Something as big as this would 
  41. have slipped out via an engineer or studio hand etc. I think the cause of 
  42. such phenomenon is simple - it happens by accident. You can probably 
  43. reverse any voice monologue and hear the word satan at some point. In the 
  44. case of your Madonna example, I took the line "life is a mystery" and 
  45. sampled myself singing it and then reversed it to find that it sounded 
  46. like jibberish. It was just a coincidance that it came out the way it did 
  47. with Madonna.
  48. However, despite my scepticism, I am curious to know more about you and 
  49. why you've taken up this charge. What religious group do you belong to?  
  50. Do you think that all secular music is evil? Do you think that messages in 
  51. reverse affect the mind? And if this reverse thing works why isn't it used 
  52. to sell soap or politicians(or is it)?
