- According to Clarinet, Sony is working on a MiniDisc-based system for
- computer storage and expects drives to be commercially available in 2 years.
- A MiniDisc is simply a direct overwrite, magneto-optical disk that stores
- 130 MB, and compressed audio is merely one possible application of a MD.
- I wonder why MD-based disk drives will take so long.

- As an aside, I think _Stereophile_ mentioned that, in addition to read-only
- MDs and recordable MDs, it should be possible to have a hybrid MD, in which
- part of the disc is recordable, and part of the disc is read-only.
