  12. In their technical presentation at the recent AES convention, Sony said that
  13. Minidisc was designed as a replacement for analog cassette in walkman
  14. applications, because cassette sales have been declining.  The small size is
  15. needed to make the player small (although it's not very small yet).

  17. BTW, Philips said it introduced dcc for the same reason (declining cassette
  18. sales).
