- Few things more. If you are using car amp or some other amp that has
- switching power supply, then you can use that 12V but you would need
- much more current than 2.5A. At least 15A. You can get clue from fuses
- in the amp.

- You know that P = U times I. And using switching supply you have about
- 70 - 90% efficiency.

- Buy a good toroidial transformer and use that, JMHO.
