- In posting #25261 Karl Rim states as an established fact that
- Susan was not really the Doctor's granddaughter but just another
- companion. This has been a matter for argument and speculation
- among Who fans forever, but my own impression is that nothing in
- any actual aired Who episode has explicitly contradicted Susan
- being related to the Doctor. Supposedly, the original writer
- of the first episode did originally intend for her to be only
- a companion, but the producers decided at the last minute to
- make her a granddaughter.

- There are arguments either way, but personally I choose to
- take the Doctor and Susan at their word and assume they are
- grandfather and granddaughter. It's actually more fun
- that way, speculating on who Mrs. Doctor was...
