- I picked up two DW CD's today. They are: "DW - Earthshock" (FILMCD 709)
- and "DW - The Five Doctors" (FILMCD 710). These are the CD versions of
- the previously released "DW - The Music" and "DW - The Music II".
- An interesting and pleasant format. Instead of a one whole story CD
- with repitious incidental music tracks, they have taken many stories and
- use a good selection of their music from each. Very unlike the "Fenric"
- and "Greatest Show" CD's (which are _very_ repitious).
-
- Briefly, the stories from which music is taken on The Five Doctors are:
- Enlightment (7:54), The King's Demons (5:21), The Five Doctors (8:44),
- Warriors of the Deep (3:54), The Awakening (3:26), Ressurection of the
- Daleks (5:02), Planet of Fire (3:55), The Caves of Androzani (6:05) and
- the DW Theme from the beginning of season 18. Time of each track ^.
-
- Stories from the Earthshock CD are: The Sea Devils, Meglos, Inferno
- (not in stereo, all others are), The Keeper of Traken, Four To Doomsday,
- The Leisure Hive, Arc of Infinity, Warrior's Gate, Kinda, Snakedance
- and, of course, Earthshock. It also includes the DW Theme music (opener
- and reprise) used from before season 18. Note: I didn't include track
- times this time because they are broken up to multiple tracks for each
- story (lazy typist 'tis I).
-
- These two CD's would prove an interesting addition to your DW library!
-
- Other noteworthy DW CD's: "The 25th Anniversary CD" and "Variations on a
- Theme" (4 tracks only). The latter is for the more experimental type of
- person (nice, though).
-
-
- Something else I bought today:
-
- "The Universal Databank" by Jean-Marc Lofficier. ISBN 0-426-20370-4
- This is the third book in his "Programme Guide" `trilogy'. It's a quite
- impressive update the the original "Doctor Who - Programme Guide, Vol. 1
- - What's What and Who's Who". 479 pages, which includes 7 pages listing
- the errors he made previously (common practice by now).
- One complaint, which is left over from his "Terrestrial Index" - He
- continues to rewrite the times that some stories took place. ie: He
- based all the U.N.I.T. stories' time of ocurrance on Mawdryn Undead. :(
- Wrong, wrong, wrong. But, I will not get as upset this time 'round.
-
- That's all for now.
-
- Happy New Year!!
-
- Regards,
- Dale Clayton
