- The next General Meeting of the National Capital Freenet (NCF) will
- take place Tuesday January 5, 1993. Here are the details:
-
- Date: Tuesday January 5 1993
- Time: 7:00pm.
- Place: Auditorium
- Ottawa Public Library Main Branch
- 120 Metcalfe St.
- Ottawa.
-
- Newcomers are welcome to attend and the meeting will begin with an
- introduction to the Freenet concept, and a description of the current
- status of the NCF. We will provide a live demonstration of the pilot
- system that now exists. People who have heard the introduction and
- seen "The Video" may wish to come at 7:30.
-
- The major item of business will be planning for the Official Public
- Opening, which is scheduled for February 1 at the Regional Headquarters
- on Lisgar St.
-
- We may also break-up into smaller discussion groups to talk about the
- activities of various committees. Currently, there are committees set
- up for:
-
- Community Relations
- Ways and Means
- System Design and Research
- Hardware and Software
-
- The FreeNet now has it's own phone lines. Set your terminal parameters
- to 7 bits, even parity and dial 780-FREE (780-3733). If you do not
- have an account, login as "guest".
-
- The National Capital FreeNet is now registering "pilot" users. Some
- things still need to be fixed, and more information needs to be
- installed before the formal opening in February 1993, but we are ready
- to have more people test the system. See the Administration Section on
- the FreeNet for registration instructions.
