  14. The next General Meeting of the National Capital Freenet (NCF) will
  15. take place Tuesday January 5, 1993.  Here are the details:

  17. Date:  Tuesday January 5 1993 
  18. Time:  7:00pm. 
  19. Place: Auditorium
  20.        Ottawa Public Library Main Branch
  21.        120 Metcalfe St.
  22.        Ottawa.

  24. Newcomers are welcome to attend and the meeting will begin with an
  25. introduction to the Freenet concept, and a description of the current
  26. status of the NCF.  We will provide a live demonstration of the pilot
  27. system that now exists.  People who have heard the introduction and
  28. seen "The Video" may wish to come at 7:30.
  29.  
  30. The major item of business will be planning for the Official Public
  31. Opening, which is scheduled for February 1 at the Regional Headquarters
  32. on Lisgar St.
  33.  
  34. We may also break-up into smaller discussion groups to talk about the
  35. activities of various committees.  Currently, there are committees set
  36. up for:
  37.  
  38.   Community Relations
  39.   Ways and Means
  40.   System Design and Research
  41.   Hardware and Software
  42.  
  43. The FreeNet now has it's own phone lines.  Set your terminal parameters
  44. to 7 bits, even parity and dial 780-FREE (780-3733).  If you do not
  45. have an account, login as "guest".
  46.  
  47. The National Capital FreeNet is now registering "pilot" users.  Some
  48. things still need to be fixed, and more information needs to be
  49. installed before the formal opening in February 1993, but we are ready
  50. to have more people test the system.  See the Administration Section on
  51. the FreeNet for registration instructions.
