  11. I've recently developed an interest in minerals and gems, as found in
  12. rocks of the desert.  The only newsgroup I find in the list I have
  13. that would include pertinent discussions is sci.geo.geology.  I have a
  14. feeling this might be too formal a group, or too learned a gathering
  15. of scientists, for a novice rockhound.  Are there any other groups I
  16. can check into?
