  21. So do I.  And we can address that without imposing an arbitrary
  22. restriction on rename ballots.  All that is needed is different
  23. subject lines for the same ballot, or preferably in my opinion,
  24. subsidiary announcements with good subject lines which point to the
  25. single ballot.  Most times, the partisans do a fine job of
  26. spotlighting a troublesome proposal.  A formal requirement that the
  27. vote taker take some responsibility for announcing the vote clearly to
  28. all affected parties seems like a simple safety net to avoid *.synth
  29. like debacles in the future.

  33.    I think an extra ballot or two every couple of years is well worth
  34.    the price of avoiding the kind of situation which we encountered
  35.    with rms.

  37. I sympathize.  I'm only suggesting an alternate which gives us the
  38. subject line clarity which is your goal without making life more
  39. difficult for the reorganizers and the voters.  I hope you are
  40. soliciting feedback from the people who ran renames in the past which
  41. your proposal would have split.

  44. dead.  You hear it all the time.
